The American Society of Clinical Pathologists reports that the average annual salary for phlebotomists is $24,350. This translates into a wage of $11.71 per hour, based on a 40-hour work week.

Although starting out may be challenging, many phlebotomists quickly diversify and become lab and EKG technicians, lab supervisors, or graduate into more administrative roles.

A phlebotomist in a supervisory position can earn a salary of approximately $35,000 per year according to the same survey.
