The College of Health Sciences
The University's College of Health Sciences comprises the Physician Assistant Program which offers a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MS), the Division of Physical Therapy which offers the Professional DPT degree and the Postprofessional DPT degree.
The College of Health Sciences educates students to become highly competent, empathetic and professionally active health care professionals well prepared to serve in an ever-changing health care environment. Central to this mission is the integration of didactic, clinical, scholarly and service activities that encourage lifelong learning, interdisciplinary practice, and respect for individuals.
Master of Health Care Administration
Des Moines University's Master of Health Care Administration degree offers practical course work in an evening and weekend format. Students find that the information learned in the classroom is easily applicable to their real-world experiences. Full time faculty members have a wide experience in teaching, health care, research, and grant work. Adjunct faculty members are leaders in the health care field who provide a depth of knowledge that comes from years of practical experience.
Graduates of the program are administrators, presidents and vice-presidents of hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, non-profit and private health care organizations. They are also educators, social service workers, health care consultants and much more.
Students can earn a generalist MHA degree or choose an emphasis area to further specialize their education. Emphasis areas offered are: Public Health, Long-Term Care Administration, Health Education, and Outcomes Research. A graduate certificate is available. A dual MHA/MPH degree is an option for interested students.
