Medical Assistant - Certificate

Are you looking to pursue a career in a growing field that allows you to assist others in need? Our Medical Assistant Certificate program offers in-depth training to help prepare you for an entry-level position as a medical assistant. Through group discussions, lectures, and hands-on laboratory experience, you can learn how to assist during examinations, perform basic laboratory tests, administer EKGs and medications, record vital signs, and schedule appointments.

Medical Billing and Coding - Certificate

Medical billing is vital to the smooth functioning of the medical office. Medical billers calculate the total amount due from a patient, prepare invoices to be sent out, and follow up to ensure that payment has been received. Medical Coding involves recording designated codes in patients' medical records. The curriculum includes classroom lectures and lab training in: health insurance including paperwork, legal issues, and insurance fraud and abuse; dental claims; general office procedures, including use of office machines, keyboarding and computer applications; and medical coding and terminology. Upon graduation, you will be able to seek entry-level employment in doctors' offices, clinics, hospitals, home health care services, nursing and residential care facilities, and insurance companies.

Phlebotomist - Certificate

Our phlebotomist program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training in our medical labs to help you develop the highly technical skill of intravenous blood withdrawal. Coursework may include keyboarding and data information processing, medical terminology, introduction to human diseases, and presentation skills. Prior to completing this program, you will be required to complete an externship to gain on-the-job experience as a phlebotomist. You must be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) prior to starting your externship. Upon successful completion of the program, you will be to search for entry-level employment as a phlebotomist in a clinic, drug treatment center, surgical center, lab, hospital, or other health care facility. Externship sites may themselves require a criminal background check or medical examination.

Health Information Technology - Associate's

The Associate of Applied Science in Health Information Technology program combines classroom instruction in marketing and facility planning with hands-on training in medical coding and abstracting procedures.
