If you want to become a part of the medical profession, the Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assistant will help you position yourself as a highly skilled professional in a dynamic field of service.

Our program helps you acquire knowledge and develop advanced skills in performing laboratory, clinical, and medical office procedures through hands-on training and instruction from experienced professionals. A 240-hour supervised, non-paid externship in a physician's office or clinic will help you complete the program with the experience and confidence you need to begin your new career. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), on recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation for Medical Assistant Education of the American Association of Medical Assistants, which makes your credentials count more in today's job market. Although the program is designed to prepare students for various certification and licensing examinations, the University cannot guarantee the student will pass the exams.

This degree gives graduates the option of seeking entry-level employment as a medical assistant with a variety of responsibilities, such as performing routine laboratory tests, assisting physicians in patient preparation and examination, and patient relations.

Medical Office Management - Associate's

The Associate of Applied Science in Medical Office Management prepares you online for a career as part of this expert team. It also qualifies you to seek national certification as an administrative specialist.

You'll study the communication, clinical and organizational skills required to provide outstanding patient care. In addition, you'll master appointment management and scheduling, medical records management, insurance processing, insurance coding and billing, and financial management.

Upon graduation, you'll display professional conduct, communicate effectively with personnel and patients, and know how to manage emergency situations. What's more, you'll be eligible to take the Certified Medical Administrative Specialist examination, given by the American Medical Technologists.

Medical office management degree program graduates find positions in doctor's offices, medical facilities, hospitals, insurance offices, pharmaceutical companies and labs. As America's population continues to grow and age, the Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts tremendous growth for this occupation well into the next decade.

The Associate of Applied Science in Medical Transcription gives you the specialized skills and knowledge you need to build a rewarding career as a medical transcriptionist.

Through our comprehensive curriculum and a supervised 180-hour externship, you receive valuable on-the-job work experience. You will develop the ability to transcribe medical dictation with accuracy, clarity, and timeliness, applying the principles of professional and ethical conduct. You will also acquire proficiency in grammar, punctuation, medical terminology, and medical transcription.

An Associate of Applied Science in Medical Transcription will give graduates the option of seeking entry-level employment in a variety of health care facilities, such as hospitals, nursing homes, or other health care organizations.
