Dental Assistant - Diploma

The 1010 hour training program is divided into 650 hours of classroom theory and 360 hours of clinical instruction. This is a modular program designed to prepare the students to assist the dentist and function as a health care professional in an administrative and clinical capacity. Dental Theory is taught utilizing classroom lecture sessions while learning the general principals of dental assisting. The student's externship program provides him/her with the practical experience required by dental assistant employers. The Dental Assisting program must be completed in 39 weeks.

Upon completion of this program, the graduate will be eligible to register for the Certified Dental Assistant Examination (CDA). A Dental Assistant program graduate will be eligible for employment as a Dental Assistant in dental practices in the areas of general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral and Maxillofacial surgery, Periodontics and other dental health care specialties. The Florida State Board of Dentistry approves this program for the Expanded Duty/Radiology. A diploma is awarded. This program is nationally accredited by the American Dental Association.

Medical Assistant - Diploma

The Medical Assistant Program is a 900 clock-hour program that includes 740 hours of classroom instruction followed by a 160-hour externship. This is a modular based program designed to prepare the student to assist the physician and function as a health care professional in a variety of medical settings. Students learn a variety of clinical and office skills required by employers. Clinical knowledge and skills include: phlebotomy, EKG, assisting with radiology procedures, pharmacology, minor lab procedures, assisting with minor surgical procedures, anatomy and physiology, basic nutrition, basic microbiology, assisting with patient examinations, asepsis and infection control, vital signs, and ear and eye care. Office skills include: legal issues, communication, office equipment, patient records, mail and supplies, scheduling and telephone techniques, insurance and patient education, bookkeeping, billing, and collection medical terminology, and basic computer/keyboarding skills. The program is taught utilizing textbooks, workbooks, lab practice, video, and models. Students gain valuable practical experience in the field of Medical Assisting during a 160-hour externship at local medical facilities. This program may be completed in 37 weeks.

Upon completion of this program, the student is qualified to sit for the Registered Medical Assistant Certification Exam and the Certified Medical Assistant Exam. The graduate is prepared to work in a variety of health care settings including doctors' offices, private practices, clinics, outpatient hospitals, and other health care related facilities.

Medical Coding and Billing - Diploma

The 900 clock hour program includes 870 classroom hours and 30 hours of computer lab. This Program is designed to educate the student in all the aspects of general medical billing/coding and hospital coding. The program provides the student with the skills expected by medical employers and prepares him/her to function as a health care professional in a variety of medical settings. The student learns anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, medical records, medical terminology, billing and insurance coding systems, and ICD-9 and/or CPT codes. The program is instructed through the use of textbooks, lecture sessions, videos and lab practice. The Billing and Coding program must be completed in 30 weeks.

Upon completion of the 900 clock hour Medical Billing and Coding program, the graduate receives a diploma and is eligible to take the National Certified Medical Insurance and the graduate is eligible to take the National (CPC / CPC-H Hospital) Coding examinations through the American Academy of Professional Coders to become Nationally Certified for private practice coding and hospital coding.

Surgical Technician - Diploma

Surgical Technologists are members of the operating room team and assist in surgical operations under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses or other surgical personnel. During surgery, Surgical Technologists pass instruments to the surgeons and may hold retractors, cut sutures and help count sponges, needles, supplies and instruments.

Hospitals still continue to be the primary employers of Surgical Technologists. Lincoln's Surgical Technologist program includes hands-on training in the classroom setting as well as clinical externship in local hospitals and facilities. Pre-admission testing is required. Limited seating
