Health Care Administration - Bachelor's

The Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration program is designed to prepare health care practitioners to work as supervisors and managers in health care settings. The curriculum provides a working foundation in management and interpersonal skills, while at the same time introducing the student to the health care delivery system and its many and varied issues and challenges. Graduates are prepared to assume increased management responsibilities with a better understanding of the complex system in which they work. Students are ready for employment in entry-level management and accounting positions in hospitals, clinics and long-term care facilities.

Medical Specialties - Associate's

Medical specialists are in great demand in doctors' offices, hospitals, laboratories and health centers in all geographic areas. You will have many opportunities as a medical assistant, pharmacy technician, lab assistant, EKG technician or phlebotomist. You may decide to work for a surgeon, pediatrician or general practitioner in a private office, hospital or diagnostic laboratory. Pharmacy technicians work in hospitals and retail pharmacies assisting pharmacists. Pharmacy technicians have expertise in drugs and dosages, ordering, receiving, stocking, dispensing, calculating and pricing. Computer skills are also necessary, and they are an integral part of our training program.

Respiratory Therapy - Bachelor's

The Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) ensures that the graduate will have access to positions with the highest salaries and greatest opportunities for career advancement in this exciting profession.

As a graduate of the program, you will be prepared to:

• Integrate leadership and management skills to deliver high-quality patient care via respiratory therapy teams.
• Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for design, delivery and evaluation of patient care and therapeutics.
• Incorporate therapist protocols and techniques to find, critically appraise and use the best practice to provide high-quality and cost-effective patient care.

The program prepares students for possible certifications* and credentials in:

• National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) eligibility
• State licensure, including Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) Specialty examinations
• Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist

Surgical Technology - Associate's

This program prepares students to assume entry-level positions as members of a healthcare surgical team. Employment opportunities are available in hospitals and in surgical centers as surgical technologists. The surgical technologist works under the direct supervision of the circulating nurse in the operating room. The surgical technologist assists with surgical procedures and provides the surgeon with instruments, sutures, sponges, and other equipment necessary to accomplish the procedures. The Associate of Occupational Studies degree in Surgical Technology prepares you to meet the challenges of this fast-paced field. As part of the curriculum, you'll gain clinical experience at some of the best hospitals in the Salt Lake City area. All clinical externships are performed in the daytime.
