Community Health Care - Diploma

The Community Health Care Diploma program is an intensive program designed to prepare you for a rewarding career in care-giving.

You'll learn residential care for clients living with chronic conditions or mental health issues. You'll also study behavior management, non-violent crisis intervention techniques, developmental disorders and basic special education principles. Recreational therapy and activity program planning will also be covered.

Seven weeks of practicum will allow you to combine theory and practice. You will gain hands-on experience in a three-week practicum in the community and a four-week practicum in a long-term care facility.

As a graduate of the CHC program, you will be prepared to function collaboratively as a member of a multi-disciplinary health care team. Upon successful completion of this program, you will receive the following:

Dental Office Administrator - Diploma

With a high industry demand for appropriately trained personnel, the Dental Office Administrator Diploma Program aims to provide graduates with the best-suited combination of general office skills and specialized dental office training.

This program responds to the unique challenges that dental teams face within the 21st century and the need for dental office staff to assume a wider range of responsibilities. Emphasis has been placed on all aspects of dental office administration in order to address the concerns of this progressive industry; such aspects include marketing, patient communications, staff relations and personal growth topics. Students learn dental terminology, pathology and pharmacology, and are trained to understand basic dental office procedures. Students also learn to assess and prioritize patient appointment requests and respond to patients' basic questions about their dental conditions and prescriptions.

Medical & Dental Office Administrator - Diploma

You can double your career opportunities by combining general office skills with specialized training for medical and dental offices.

In the Medical and Dental Office Administrator program, you'll study medical terminology and pharmacology. You'll also learn to prepare medical and dental test, and respond to questions about various medical and dental conditions as well as prescriptions. Two practicum periods will allow you opportunities to explore both career fields.

In addition, you'll receive standard First Aid and CPR certificates.

As a graduate of this program, you'll be prepared to begin a career as an Admitting Clerk, Emergency Room Admitting Clerk, Medical Office Assistant, Medical Secretary, Medical Transcriptionist, Medical or Dental Office Administrator, Medical or Dental Receptionist, Medical or Dental Claims Administrator. You will also meet job requirements to work in specialty medical and dental offices and to act as sales representatives for medical or dental manufacturing companies.

Medical Office Assistant - Diploma

medical office assistants are important members of the health care team. In this program, students learn anatomy, terminology and pharmacology. Additionally, they learn medical office administration, including the use of billing software. Students receive First Aid and CPR training and certification as well. Career opportunities include positions as admitting clerks, medical secretaries, transcriptionists, receptionists or billing clerks.

Medical Pharmacy Assistant - Diploma

The medical pharmacy assistant program trains students for careers in medical offices or community pharmacies. They learn medical office management, clinical procedures and pharmaceutical dispensing methods. They also study anatomy, medical terminology, pharmacology and pharmacy and drug law. Students also receive First Aid and CPR certification.

Medical Records Clerk - Diploma

Information management plays an important role in medical facilities. These institutions depend on well-trained professionals to collect and maintain detailed health records used to enhance the quality of patient care. The Medical Records Clerk Diploma program teaches students to compile, review, analyze and classify health-related information.

Students learn medical terminology and disease classification systems. They also examine the various legal and ethical issues surrounding medical records, including government legislation relevant to confidentiality (Federal Privacy Act) as well as the release of information with and without patient consent.

Pharmacy Assistant/Technician - Diploma

Practical Nursing - Diploma

The Practical Nursing program trains students to care for patients in medical, surgical and rehabilitation wards of acute care hospitals Three Nursing Arts courses and three practicum periods allow candidates to apply theory and techniques in the field. A preceptorship component eases the transition from student nurse to graduate This program is based on guidelines and standards outlined by the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia (CLPNBC). Other employment settings include long-term care facilities, group homes, public schools or special care units.

Resident Care Attendant - Diploma

The excellent training provided by highly qualified instructors, and the experience acquired during the seven weeks of clinical training will equip students with the knowledge and confidence for a career in care giving.

Each student will complete three-weeks of clinical training in intermediate care and four-weeks of clinical training in an extended care facility to give them the hands-on experience that is so crucial to getting a job.

Graduates of the Resident Care Attendant Program will be prepared to care for clients with special needs and to function collaboratively as members of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Our program prepares students with professional front office skills, essential computer applications, accounting and management fundamentals and product knowledge and sales.Students learn to assess and prioritize client appointment requests and respond to clients' basic questions about general animal health care.
