Facilities

The Blue Cliff College campuses include classrooms for lecture, massage technique, administrative offices and break area. Equipment includes, but is not limited to, massage tables and chairs, hydrocollator, body support systems, skeletons, charts, massage tools, white boards, TV/VCRs, training videos and overhead projectors. An on-campus library includes a wide selection of books relating to our curricula.

Massage Therapy - Diploma

The Massage Therapy Diploma program provides a solid foundation in anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology which form the basis for training in specific massage techniques. Hands-on techniques include Swedish massage, deep tissue, neuromuscular therapy, sports massage, basic Shiatsu and supervised clinical practice. The diploma program prepares the student for entry-level positions in the massage therapy industry. Our graduates pursue a variety of jobs including private practice, athletic team massage therapist, massage therapist in a hospital, athletic club massage therapist, on-site massage therapist, massage therapist in a hair salon, assistant to physical therapists or chiropractors and massage therapist on cruise ships.

Successful completion of this diploma program qualifies the graduate for massage therapy licensure or registry in both Louisiana and Mississippi and provides eligibility to sit for the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork Examination. Both states require fewer than the total contact hours included in the diploma program. Blue Cliff offers day and night schedules to accommodate almost any lifestyle or work routine. The normal completion time for the day program is 9 months, and, for the evening program, 15 months.

Medical Assisting - Diploma

The Diploma in Medical Assisting at Blue Cliff College provides training in both front and back office procedures built on a foundation of medical science and office administration courses. The medical assisting program provides an in-depth study of the medical science of the human body including:

• Anatomy
• Physiology
• Pathology
• Examining room procedures
• Medical lab procedures
• Medical terminology
• Pharmacology
• Administrative procedures

The diploma program prepares the graduate for entry-level positions in the health-care field as a medical assistant working in a clinical and/or administrative setting. Our graduates may pursue jobs in doctors' offices, hospitals, and clinics. The normal completion time for the day program is within 9 months and the evening program within 15 months. Graduates from the medical assisting program must complete a total of 58 quarter credits to be awarded a Diploma in Medical Assisting.

The Medical Assistant in today's busy medical environment is a key support person performing routine administrative and clinical tasks necessary to keep an office running smoothly. Medical Assistants give health care a human touch, helping patients to feel at ease in the doctor's office and to understand physicians' instructions. Duties may include answering phones, greeting patients, filing, assisting with insurance forms, taking and recording vitals signs, explaining treatment procedures and collecting laboratory specimens, to mention just a few.

Medical Office Administration - Diploma

The Diploma in Medical Office Administration program provides an advanced study of software applications, medical insurance and billing, medical office administration, as well as an in-depth study of the medical science of the human body, including:

• Anatomy
• Physiology of the body systems
• Pathology of the body systems
• Medical terminology
