Bohecker College - Cincinnati Dental Assistant program is
designed to train students to acquire satisfactory skills and
demonstrate competence in a variety of dental office procedures
and laboratory techniques. The procedures and lab techniques
include preliminary examination procedure, assisting at
chair-side using four-handed dentistry, charting, appointment
scheduling, keeping patient records and sterilizing instruments.
The assistant qualified in radiology may also take and expose
radiographs.
Upon satisfactory completion of the program, students will be
qualified to assume entry-level positions as a Dental Assistant
in dental offices and clinics performing the lab techniques and
office procedures described above. Students enrolled in the
Dental Assistant program are required to participate in Live
Patient Dental Screening/Radiography Scenarios.

Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) serves as a vital link
in the chain of the health care team.
This program includes all skills necessary for the individual to
provide emergency medical care at a basic life support level with
an ambulance service or other specialized service. EMT-Bs provide
services in an environment requiring special skills and knowledge
in such areas as communications, documentation and
transportation. Bohecker College can provide an introduction to
these concepts and the protocols applicable to Basic Life Support
services.

Associate's in Medical Assisting

Medical assistants perform many administrative duties. They
answer telephones, greet patients, update and file patient
medical records, complete insurance and referral forms, handle
correspondence, schedule appointments, arrange for hospital
admissions and laboratory services, handle medical prescriptions,
coordinate meetings with medical representatives, and handle
billing and bookkeeping. Clinical duties include: taking medical
histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment
procedures to patients, preparing patients for examination and
assisting the physician during the examination.
The duties of medical assistants vary from office to office
depending on location, size and specialty. In small practices,
medical assistants are usually generalists, handling both
administrative and clinical duties. They usually report directly
to an office manager, physician or other health practitioner.
Those in large practices tend to specialize in a particular area
under the supervision of department administrators or practice
managers.
Associate's in Medical Billing and Coding

This program focuses on training students on the skills required
for medical billing and coding through hands-on exercises,
lectures, demonstrations, and group and individual projects.
Students become familiar with the daily operations of the medical
office environment, medical terminology, current billing
procedures, implementing procedures and diagnostic codes, basic
bookkeeping and the legal aspects surrounding the medical office.
Students will also be accurate typists (35 wpm minimum), use
their basic knowledge of computer and medical software as well as
interpret insurance rules and regulations. They will access
information via the internet, understand billing methods and the
billing cycle to generate insurance claims accurately as well as
have a clear understanding of administrative operations, the
importance of obtaining and locating proper patient information,
and how information must be documented.
We will focus on the financial components necessary to submit a
clean claim and be reimbursed within a reasonable amount of time.
We will have our students up-to-date on the various insurance
types and coverage as well as insurance terminology. Students
will study the billing process in both manual and electronic
form.
These skills will enable the graduate, upon completion of
required coursework, to further develop his or her career as a
medical biller and coder through a 160-hour externship in a
clinic, laboratory, physician's office, hospital or other setting
that employs medical billing and coding personnel.
Associate's in Medical Business and Clinical Specialist

The Associate of Applied Business in Medical Business and
Clinical Specialist program provides graduates the knowledge and
hands-on skills to perform competently in a variety of
entry-level medical positions. Students receive training in front

patient records and clinical skills relating to direct patient
care. Students will learn the proper procedures to answer
telephones, greet patients, update and file patient medical
records, complete insurance and referral forms, handle
correspondence, schedule appointments, arrange for hospital
admissions and laboratory services, handle medical prescriptions,
coordinate meetings with medical representatives and handle
billing and bookkeeping.
Upon completion of the program requirements, graduates will be
awarded an Associate of Applied Business in Medical Business and
Clinical Specialist. This program normally takes 80 weeks to
complete.
Associate's in Paramedic

Paramedics primarily work in the pre-hospital setting and are the
"eyes, ears and hands" of the emergency room physician. Emergency
Medical Technicians (EMTs) and paramedics differ in the fact that
EMTs provide basic life support (bandaging wounds, splinting,
etc.) and paramedics provide advanced life support (IVs,
administering medication, etc.).
The objective of the Paramedic Program is to train students to
acquire satisfactory skills and demonstrate competency in a
variety of pre-hospital Advanced Life Saving (ALS) procedures and
techniques, in preparation for the Paramedic examination
administered by the National Registry of Emergency Medical
