Medical Career Programs at IBMC
IBMC trains individuals for various careers within clinics, doctors' offices, hospitals, pharmacies, insurance companies and other health care facilities. All programs include an externship where students gain experience in the job setting. The externship provides an opportunity to practice the skills learned under direct supervision in an actual work environment.
Medical Assistant - Diploma or Associate's
Medical assistants are multi-skilled health professionals who assist physicians in performing a broad range of administrative and clinical duties. This field is suitable for people who want to acquire knowledge in the medical field, help others and enjoy working with people. The many different roles in this profession ensure a fast-moving and challenging career.
The objective of this program is to provide graduates with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to qualify for entry-level positions as medical assistants. The emphasis on administrative and clinical skills includes instruction in medical terminology, medical insurance billing, medical office procedures, communication, word processing, accounting and computer skills. The program includes an externship in a physician's office, clinic or other health care facility. Diploma courses may be applied toward the Associate's in Medical Assistant degree.
