Phlebotomy Certificate

The Phlebotomy program will make you a crucial part of the medical team with the skills necessary to obtain quality laboratory specimens in a variety of medical settings. Clinical Assistant Diploma

The Clinical Assistant program will prepare you to provide quality health service by performance of clinical skills in a medical office or clinic. You will be able to safely perform clinical procedures required by physicians, including CPR, First Aid, and medical laboratory testing and procedures such as electrocardiograms.

Health Unit Coordinator Certificate

Health Unit Coordinators work at the nurses' station in health care facilities, coordinating the non-clinical activities, clerical, and support functions related to patient care. Duties include transcribing physicians' orders, scheduling diagnostic tests and treatments for patients, managing the patients' charts, and maintaining unit supplies.

Limited Medical Radiography Diploma

Through the Limited Medical Radiography program, graduates are prepared to perform x-ray (radiographic) examinations in clinics, physicians' offices, dentists' offices, public health institutions, and urgent care centers. You will acquire the skills to prepare patients for radiographic examinations by explaining the procedure and ensuring proper positioning of both the patient and the radiographic equipment.

Medical Administrative Assistant Diploma

The Medical Administrative Assistant is an asset to physicians in private practices, staff physicians of hospitals and clinics, and other healthcare professionals. The administrative procedures include telephone handling, appointment making, billing and collections, insurance, medical records maintenance, and communication with all patients and visitors.

Medical Assistant Diploma

With the Medical Assistant Diploma, you will be prepared to:

• Take the Certified Medical Assistant exam of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)

Medical classes are taught by registered nurses and laboratory technicians in small, intimate classes. Clinical, on-the-job training also is a unique feature.

Medical Coding Diploma

Medical coders analyze medical records, assign codes to indices of diagnoses and procedures and to provide information for reimbursement purposes. Medical Coding students learn to transform verbal descriptions of diseases, injuries, and procedures into numerical designations. Medical Coders possess the skills necessary for employment in physicians' offices, clinics, hospitals, and insurance companies. This course prepares the student to apply for the national coding certificate at the apprentice level.

Medical Transcriptionist Diploma

Through this program, students become an integral part of the medical team. Graduates will learn how to transcribe necessary medical records in a variety of medical settings.

Practical Nursing Diploma

A student of this comprehensive and interesting program will learn the aspects of professional nursing. In addition, you will gain on-the-job experience in the clinical phases of nursing. This is done in a variety of hospitals and healthcare facilities under the supervision of qualified nursing faculty. This program is offered in both the day and evening divisions. Graduates of Spencerian's Practical Nursing program have had an outstanding employment success rate.

Surgical Technology Diploma

Students gain knowledge and experience with septic technique, and preparation and use of instruments and supplies to be used in surgery during surgical procedures. The surgical technologist performs scrub and/or circulating duties including passing instruments and supplies to the surgical team members. Preparing and positioning the patient, operating equipment, and assisting the anesthesiologist, and keeping accurate records.

Associate of Applied Science in Healthcare Reimbursement Specialist

The objective of this program is to analyze medical records, assigning codes to indices of diagnoses and procedures and to provide information for reimbursement purposes. Students learn to transform verbal descriptions of diseases, injuries, and procedures into numerical designations. Students review rejected claims and prepare for resubmission. The course prepares the students to apply for the national coding certificate at the apprentice level. Employment opportunities include multi-physician practices, clinics, insurance companies, consulting firms, and medical billing companies.

Associate of Applied Science in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology

The Invasive Cardiovascular Technologist is a highly specialized and knowledgeable health care professional who is educated and trained to perform diagnostic procedures at the request of the physician to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with cardiac disease.

Graduates of the Invasive Cardiovascular Technology program will be eligible to take the National Credentialing Examination (RCIS). Depending upon background, students will also be required to sit for the Basic Science Examination administered by CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International).

Associate of Applied Science in Medical Administrative Management

The Medical Administrative Management program will prepare graduates to:

Associate of Applied Science in Medical Clinical Specialties

The Medical Clinical Specialties program is a combination of the Medical Assistant, Limited Medical Radiography, and Phlebotomy programs. Graduates will have the confidence and skills necessary to perform clinically in a physician's office or other medical facility, including skills necessary to obtain quality laboratory specimens and perform x-rays (radiographic examinations), handle the administrative duties, assist patient care, examinations, and perform appropriate medical procedures.

Associate of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technician

The Medical Laboratory Technician performs routine laboratory tests on blood, urine and body fluids to help diagnose disease and injury in a hospital, clinic, or laboratory. This program provides students with a foundation of knowledge and skill necessary to function in a modern, highly technical medical laboratory setting. Upon completion, students will be prepared to apply for a national certification examination.

Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology

The purpose of the Radiology Technologist program is to prepare competent students to perform the duties of an entry-level Radiologic Technologist. They will assist the radiologist in providing a high level of radiologic technology expertise to patients in hospitals, clinics, extended care facilities, nursing homes, and other organized health care settings.

The program addresses the competency specified by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and prepares students for employment in the field of radiology.
