The Career College of Choice
For over a century, Northwestern College has pursued its mission
of providing a quality education to students interested in
building a better life for themselves by offering career-focused
college degrees. Our accredited, respected associate's degree
programs are taught by highly qualified instructors, while the
convenient, innovative online format gives working students the
flexibility to arrange their coursework and study time around
their busy schedules.
Besides a high-caliber education, we provide a variety of services to help our students focus on and prepare for the next exciting steps in their lives and careers. Our financial aid staff is committed to helping students through the financial aid process and to identify all potential sources of assistance. Each student is assigned a Personal Student Services Coordinator to assist with any questions or problems. Our support doesn't stop when we hand over a diploma, either: Northwestern College offers lifetime career assistance in the form of job placement help and externship opportunities.
Northwestern College is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and our programs are also approved and accredited by recognized educational associations.
Northwestern College offers three associate's degree (AAS) programs online:
- Business Administration
- Criminal Justice
- Health Information Technology
AAS in Health Information Technology
The health care field has a need for experts in Health Information Technology to accurately document patients' medical histories--such as illnesses, observations, surgeries, and treatment outcomes--to ensure proper treatment and care. Health Information Technologists may keep patient records for hospitals, outpatient centers, nursing homes, public health departments, or insurance companies. Northwestern College's online associate's degree in Health Information Technology prepares students to enter this growing field with courses on medical coding, terminology, and insurance and billing practices. Northwestern College's AAS in HIT is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM) and Information Management Education of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
