Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Associate of Science

A diagnostic medical sonographer (ultrasound technologist) uses
specialized equipment that produces high frequency sound waves
that help the medical team see inside a patient's body. The
results of these examinations provide doctors with information to
make medical diagnoses. Keiser University's Associate of Science
in Diagnostic Medical Sonography degree prepares competent
graduates for entry-level positions in the field.

Keiser University's Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science
is designed as a completion program for graduates of associate of
science programs in allied health fields. The curriculum supports
an expanded professional role, enhances interdisciplinary
understanding and provides a base for graduate education.
The following objectives are designed to meet Keiser University's
mission and its objectives:
- To enhance students' leadership abilities in the health care
field
- To explore the political, legal and ethical issues that
impact on the practice of health care
- To expand interdisciplinary understanding and collaboration
- To develop a health care provider's ability to educate
clients, colleagues or students
Students must complete the following before being accepted into
the health science program:
- Graduation from a regionally-accredited associate's degree
program in an allied health field
- Minimum of 6 months work experience
- All lower division major and general education courses must
be successfully completed before upper division courses are
undertaken.
Health Services Administration - Associate of Arts

This program of study will prepare students for entry-level
employment positions such as: physicians' office managers,
assistant managers of physicians' offices, supervisors in health
care organizations, and other related administrative assignments
in the health services environment. This program will enhance
employment and promotion potential in health services
organizations and industries and transfer to 4-year degree
programs.

This program focuses on health services administration skills
students need in today's health care industry. The program not
only provides a basic understanding of health services as a
whole, but also looks at the unique skills needed by a health
service administrator through the use of case studies, projects
and personal computers incorporating various software packages.
Topics covered include: coding and billing for health care,
public and private health care, along with the financial and
legal issues in health care. This program will provide students
with the education necessary to succeed in the health services
environment and enhance employment and promotion potential as
well.
Massage Therapy - Associate of Science

The massage therapy program provides instruction in therapeutic
massage with knowledge of the structure and function of the human
body. Students receive training in hydrotherapy, massage law, the
prevention of medical errors and allied modalities. Graduates
will be prepared for employment as a massage therapist.
Medical Assisting - Associate of Science

A medical assistant is a professional multi-skilled person who
assists a physician. This person performs duties under the
direction of a physician in all areas of medical practice.
Patient care management includes preparing treatment and
examination rooms, taking vital signs, possible assisting in
minor surgical procedures, giving injections, venipuncture,
assisting in laboratory operations and taking X-Rays and
electrocardiograms. In addition to the clinical aspects, a
medical assistant's function in an administrative capacity
includes maintaining patient records, billing, scheduling
appointments, ordering supplies and handling insurance claims.
Radiologic Technology - Associate of Science

Radiologic technologists are important members of the health care
team. This is the entry-level position in the radiologic
technology career ladder. Radiologic technologists take x-rays
according to standardized practices and procedures. Keiser
University's AS in Radiologic Technology program is designed to
provide instruction to prepare qualified students in the routine
general and fluoroscopic procedures, special procedures and in
the use of specialized equipment and techniques. Graduates will
be qualified to take the registry examination of the American
Registry of Radiologic Technologists. The graduate will also be
eligible for the State of Florida licensure in radiologic
technology.
Sports Medicine & Fitness Technology - Associate of Science

Keiser University's Associate of Science degree in Sports
Medicine and Fitness Technology focuses on entry-level health and
fitness assessment, prescription and lifestyle modification. The
program provides a basic understanding of health risk factors,
physiological adaptations to exercise, injury prevention, care
and therapies, as well as addressing all components of activity
as related to sports and exercise.
