The training schedule at Lamson Institute can accommodate most
working students. The placement department will assist students
in obtaining part-time or full-time employment to help them meet
their living expenses during their school training.
These jobs are usually not in the field for which the student is
being trained. Positions are generally in food service, custodial
work, merchandising and general labor.

Medical Assistant - Diploma

Graduates of the medical assistant diploma program will be
prepared to assist physicians in medical office examinations;
perform basic laboratory skills and procedures; record, monitor
and mount electrocardiograms. In the front office, the medical
assistant will perform the administrative duties of the office
including the following:
- Bookkeeping
- Record management
- Appointment scheduling
- Insurance
- Medical practice management
Since medical assistants are trained in both administrative and
clinical procedures, they are capable of filling a variety of
positions, including the following:
- Medical assistant
- Clinical or administrative assistant
- Medical receptionist
Lab Assistant/EKG Technician or Phlebotomist - Diploma

This program prepares graduates for an entry-level position as an
EKG technician/lab assistant or phlebotomist, performing several
laboratory procedures in the following areas:
- Hematology
- Bacteriology
- Urinalysis
- Electrocardiography
- Phlebotomy
- Vital signs
Graduates of this program will have appropriate communication
skills and be CPR certified.
