Indiana Business College is a postsecondary, proprietary
educational institution. Founded as a single campus in 1902, the
college has grown to 11 on-ground campuses across the state of
Indiana. We have an online division and a culinary division, The
Chef's Academy. We currently offer more than 20 programs of study
for our students in the areas of business, medical, information
technology, criminal justice and culinary arts.
Indiana Business College is accredited by the Accrediting Council
for Independent Colleges and Schools to award certificates,
diplomas and associate of applied science degrees.
The health care management program provides medical students with
an overview of accounting, marketing, finance, law and management
to prepare them for managerial positions within the health care
industry. Students will develop knowledge and skills in research,
critical thinking, problem solving and current technology, as
well as foster teamwork and leadership skills through
participation in classroom activities. Professional ethics, and
its application within the health care business environment, is
also targeted.
The program has been developed as a completion program for
students who have graduated from an accredited associate degree
program in a related area, or who have earned college credit
equivalent to such a degree.

This program provides students with the skills necessary to be
proficient in both front and back office procedures. Students
receive hands-on training so that they are able to assist
physicians in minor surgery, perform laboratory tests, assess
vital signs, administer medication, operate an ECG machine, and
perform other therapeutic modalities prescribed by physicians.
Medical assistants are employed in physicians' offices, medical
clinics, laboratories and other health agencies.

The medical office assistant program trains students to perform
medical administrative front office duties that are vital in
today's health care field. It develops fundamental skills such as
phone reception, word processing, medical record filing,
appointment scheduling, light bookkeeping, and proficiency in
medical practice software functions. Employment opportunities
include all physicians' offices, clinics, med-checks and
virtually any health care setting.
Medical Reimbursement Technology - Associate's

This program is designed to provide students with the knowledge
and skills needed to apply coding classification systems for
billing medical professional services to insurance companies,
maintaining patient accounts and performing billing procedures
for optimal claim reimbursement. The student will be trained to
utilize medical office software programs to input patient
insurance and registration data, manage health information files,
schedule appointments and submit electronic claims forms.
Emphasis will be placed on the importance of compliance with
state and federal regulations and managed care policies. A high
degree of accuracy and a working knowledge of medical
terminology, diseases, and treatments are important skills for
this profession. Employment opportunities include physician's
offices, clinics, inpatient care facilities, medical billing
management companies and insurance companies.

This program is designed to provide students with an academic and
clinical background in the field of surgical technology. Students
develop the skills necessary to be a knowledgeable, professional
and responsible member of the surgical team. The program prepares
students for entry-level positions in a number of health care
facilities including hospitals, medical centers, and public and
private surgical centers.
