Massage Therapy - Associate'sBack to topNew York College's Associate of Occupational Studies degree program in Massage Therapy is a 72 credit program. In 1996, the College became the first college in the United States to award an independent degree in therapeutic bodywork. Massage therapy most commonly falls into two categories: European massage, which focuses on the musculoskeletal system and is based on standard Western anatomy and physiology, and Eastern, in our case Amma Massage, which is based on the principles of Oriental medicine and the movement of energy through various channels in the body. In New York College's Massage Therapy Program, students learn both. In addition to learning both Western and Oriental health sciences and massage techniques, students can take electives in the popular techniques of sports massage, reflexology, infant massage, stone massage, chair massage, shiatsu and other modalities clients ask for today. For many students, an Associate degree in Massage Therapy is only the first step in their education. They may also wish to continue their educational training and enhance their skills by receiving a Bachelor's degree in Advanced Asian Bodywork. School of Massage TherapyBack to top
