Health Administration - Bachelor's (Online)Back to top
The online health administration major prepares distance learning students for administrative positions in a wide range of health care organizations. The program provides individuals who have some health care experience, even at the entry level, with the skills necessary to move into supervisory or management positions in health care organizations. The variety of courses offered online provides the necessary foundation and framework for growth and success as a health care administrator. While some large health care providers or health care systems require a master's degree for top-level positions (e.g., Chief Executive Officer), there are many management positions in those organizations for which this bachelor's degree is just what is needed. In addition, top positions in some other health care organizations (e.g., smaller hospitals, long-term care organizations, government regulatory agencies) are also accessible with this specialized bachelor's degree. As health care organizations continue to grow more complex, the necessity of having a degree in health administration becomes more essential for success. This degree also provides a sound foundation for moving on to a graduate degree, particularly if the Fast Track option is chosen. Long-Term Care Administration - Bachelor's (Online)Back to topThe Bachelor of Science in Long-Term Care Administration (BS/LTCA) major provides students with professional education specific to the field of long-term care administration. While many colleges and universities treat long-term care administration as a specialization or subset of another program such as business administration, health administration or gerontology, at Saint Joseph's College of Maine it is truly a degree in long-term care administration. The BS/LTCA major is designed for working adult learners and like other distance learning programs at Saint Joseph's College of Maine, it is delivered in a flexible, asynchronous online modality that fits your schedule. The BS/LTCA program is one of the few in the country accredited by the National Association of Boards of Examiners of Long-Term Care Administrators (NAB), and the only NAB-accredited program available through distance education. The program offers the following specializations:
An internship is available to satisfy relevant state licensing board internship or administrator-in-training (AIT) requirements. Students who have not yet passed their national boards may enroll as continuing education students, but cannot formally matriculate into the program until Saint Joseph 's College receives proof of a passing score on the national registry examination.
