Degree Programs with Hands-On Career Training

With a core of general education courses alongside specialized career training, SJVC enables graduates to receive their Associate of Science degree in addition to career specific certifications and licensure preparedness. Students get the classroom instruction and real-world experience they need to compete in today's job market.

Flexible, Accelerated Learning

SJVC courses are offered year-round, with flexible hours in morning, afternoon and evening classes to accommodate working students. Most courses of study can be completed in only 15 to 18 months.

Accreditation

SJVC is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for community and junior colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). There are more than 2,000 licensed private vocational colleges in California, and SJVC is one of the eight accredited by WASC.

Clinical and Administrative Medical Assisting - Associate's

Our Clinical and Administrative Medical Assisting program is designed to prepare you in the use of administrative and clinical medical procedures in a medical office or specialty clinic setting. You will learn insurance billing, appointment scheduling, CPR/first aid and venipuncture. Hands-on training is offered in a clinical externship.

Dental Assisting - Certificate & Associate's

Our Dental Assisting program is designed to prepare you to work under the supervision of a dentist. Hands-on training includes patient care, office administration and laboratory duties, dental anatomy, radiology, preventive dentistry and related software applications.

Emergency Services and Safety Management - Associate's

Our Emergency Services and Safety Management program will introduce you to the world of security as well as individual and property protection services. The classroom instruction includes Cal/OSHA compliance, injury prevention, emergency medical training, criminal law and risk management.

Health Care Insurance Specialist - Associate's

Our Health Care Insurance Specialist program is designed to provide you with a detailed understanding of insurance processing and coding, as well as patient record keeping, office management, medical terminology and ICD-9 CM and CPT coding. Hands-on instruction is offered during an externship in a health care setting.

Pharmacy Technology - Associate's

Our Pharmacy Technology program is designed to prepare you to become part of a team, handling prescription orders under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Topics covered include pharmacology, prescription processing and computer data entry, as well as hands-on training during an externship in a pharmacy environment.

Surgical Technology - Associate's

Our Surgical Technology program is designed to prepare you to become a key member of a medical team in an operating room. Classroom instruction includes surgical procedures and techniques, CPR/first aid and medical terminology. Hands-on training includes an extensive clinical rotation working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists and registered nurses in the surgical environment.
