The curriculum is based on the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials of Master's Education and the American Nurses Association's (ANA) Scope and Standards for Nurse Administrators-the same standards used to create the essentials of magnetism for magnet hospitals.

Master's in Nursing - Informatics

This specialization offers a multidisciplinary approach to informatics by blending nursing science, computer science and information science. PhD in Health Services

Walden's Ph.D. in Health Services examines both the theoretical and practical aspects of health care services, based on a learning model that encourages original research and real-world application of knowledge. Specializations are offered in:

Health Management and Policy

In this program, students may concentrate either on a specific functional management area, on the management of services/organizations dedicated to one stage in the continuum of care, or on one institutional/industry-specific management area that cuts across different levels of care.

Community Health Promotion and Education

The community health promotion and education specialization focuses on developing strategies that improve the health of communities and their individual members. Included in this specialization are the study of multiple issues of health and human behavior, including health and healing, health and professional behavior, health and social behavior, and health and life span issues. You may focus in the areas of community health, environmental and occupational health, school health and worksite health, or you can design your own area of study. Regardless of your area of study, your academic work will incorporate these three core community health functions of assessment, policy, and assurance.

PhD in Public Health

Increase your influence in the critical arena of public health care with a Walden Ph.D. in Public Health. With a learning model that integrates an interactive, online learning environment with in-person academic residencies, the doctoral program culminates in a dissertation showcasing original research you will contribute to the field. Community Health Promotion and Education

This program focuses on seeking solutions to significant public health problems and applying and integrating new knowledge into public health research and practice settings.

The curriculum is focused on community health, including medical, social, political, ethical and economic factors that contribute to an overall well-being of a public health system and to the community it serves. The program emphasizes the development and demonstration of strong research skills-skills that will help students pursue professional careers in academia or service to public and private governmental and non-governmental organizations.

Epidemiology

The epidemiology specialization focuses on the scientific understanding of the causes, distribution, control and prevention of disease in populations.
