The HoHoKus-RETS philosophy is to provide quality programs that
are sound in concept, implemented by a competent and dedicated
faculty, and geared to serve those seeking a solid foundation in
knowledge and skills required to obtain employment in their
chosen fields. The school has demonstrated strong placement rates
for its graduates.
The programs emphasize hands-on training, are relevant to
employers' needs, and focus on areas that offer strong long-term
employment opportunities. To offer students the training and
skills that will lead to successful employment.
Career or degree? Get both—if you want to get into
the workplace quickly, we offer programs that can often be
completed in as little as 6 months. At any time, you can return
to Eastwick College, apply to transfer your previously earned
credits and complete your Associate's Degree.
Courses that you can take with you—the varied
curricula at Eastwick College, and our Nutley and Hackensack
campuses have been evaluated by the American Council on
Education, allowing graduates to earn up to 55 college credits at
more than 1500 colleges and universities across the nation.

HoHoKus-RETS offers daytime and evening classes to accommodate
students' schedules. Free tutoring is offered to all students.
Medical Assistant - Certificate (Day / Evening)
The medical assisting field is one of the fastest-growing
industries in today's economy. HoHoKus School's Medical Assistant
program will prepare students for entry-level positions as
Medical Assistants, Medical Office Managers, Medical Secretaries,
Medical Receptionists or Medical Transcriptionists. Other
opportunities exist in the hospital setting as Patient Care
Technicians, EKG Technicians, Phlebotomists, Unit Secretaries and
Ward Clerks.
Students learn both the "back-office" clinical and "front-office"
administrative skills that today's medical profession demands.
The program is an intensive 9-month (day classes) or 11
˝-month (night classes) course that emphasizes the
following areas:
- Anatomy & Physiology
- Clinical Laboratories
- Medical Laboratories
- Medical Terminology
- Patient Relations/Emergency Care Procedures
- Medical Office Practices and Management
- Medical Transcription
- Computerized Medical Management
- Word Processing with Windows software
Keyboarding students will develop clinical skills such as vital
signs, venipuncture, charting, EKG, blood testing, injections,
urinalysis, hospital care, CPR and First Aid. Students will gain
administrative skills such as computer proficiency with Microsoft
Windows software, patient billing, scheduling, record keeping,
medical transcription, keyboarding speed and accuracy, insurance
forms and coding.
Upon successful completion of the program, students will have
obtained CPR, First Aid, and OSHA certifications. In addition,
completion of this program allows graduates to gain
Electrocardiography (EKG) and Phlebotomy certifications and sit
for the RMA exam to become Registered Medical Assistants.

Medical Billing & Coding Specialist - Certificate (Day /
Evening)
The objective of the Medical Billing & Coding Specialist
Program is to prepare the student with no prior experience to
develop the skills to become a medical records technician,
medical record abstractor, medical biller, insurance claim
administrator and coder. The optional one-month externship allows
additional career inroads for those whose ultimate goal is
medical billing and coding.
