Career Technical College - Shreveport

The mission of Career Technical College is to educate students within an environment which fosters the interdependence between education, business and paraprofessional enterprise. The following purposes are integral to the mission of the College:

Medical Assisting - Associate of Occupational Studies

The vocational objective of the Medical Assisting Program is to prepare graduates to work as a Medical Assistant in doctors' offices, hospitals and other medical facilities, performing both administrative and clinical duties under the supervision of a licensed health care practitioner. Medical Assistant graduates are eligible to directly challenge the AAMA Certification Examination for Medical Assistants for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential.

Surgical Technology - Associate of Occupational Studies

The vocational objective of the Surgical Technology Program is to prepare graduates to work as a Surgical Technologist in an operating room with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses and other surgical team members. Surgical Technologists maintain asepsis in the operating room, pass instruments and sterile items and equipment to the surgeon during a procedure, maintain the sterile field, and prepare instruments, supplies and equipment before and after an operation.
