Radiologic technicians are responsible for taking x-rays and administering non-radioactive materials into patients' bloodstreams for diagnostic purposes. They explain the procedure to patients, and then position the patient and radiographic equipment to ensure that the parts of the body can be properly imaged. Radiologic technicians perform diagnostic imaging procedures in hospital diagnostic imaging departments, surgical theaters, emergency rooms, doctor's offices, and other health care settings using fixed and/or portable machines. Our radiologic technology program offers hands-on clinical training and includes instruction in:
- Systemic and skeletal anatomy, radiographic terminology, and the principles of radiation protection
- How x-rays are produced and the requirements and design of radiographic, fluoroscopic, mobile, and tomographic equipment

X-Ray Technician/Back Office Medical Assistant - Diploma

The objective of the X-ray Technician/Medical Assistant Back
Office Diploma program is to prepare students with the knowledge,
technical skills and work habits required for an entry-level
position in the field. The curriculum emphasizes development of
effective techniques which provide protection for the patient and
technician, prepares graduates to take the California State
Examination in Limited Permit Radiological Technology for state
licensure, and provides back office medical assisting training
with preparation for certification in order to increase job
opportunities. Upon successful completion of the program,
graduates will be awarded a diploma. The graduate must pass the
California State Examination to secure a position as an x-ray
technician.
