Indiana Business College is a postsecondary, proprietary
educational institution. Founded as a single campus in 1902, the
college has grown to 11 on-ground campuses across the state of
Indiana. We have an online division and a new culinary division,
The Chef's Academy. We currently offer more than 20 programs of
study for our students in the categories of business, medical,
information technology, criminal justice, and culinary arts. The
Indiana Business College campus is located at 550 East Washington
Street. Our new urban campus was designed to honor the 100-year
history of IBC and to convey our progressive vision of tomorrow.
Indiana Business College is accredited by the Accrediting Council
for Independent Colleges and Schools to award certificates,
diplomas and associate of applied science degrees.
The program has been developed as a completion program for
students who have graduated from an accredited associate degree
program in a related area, or who have earned college credit
equivalent to such a degree.
This program provides students with the skills necessary to be
proficient in both front and back office procedures. Students
receive hands-on training so that they are able to assist
physicians in minor surgery, perform laboratory tests, assess
vital signs, administer medication, operate an ECG machine, and
perform other therapeutic modalities prescribed by physicians.

clinics, laboratories and other health agencies.

This program is designed for native English speakers. It provides
students with the skills necessary to be proficient in both front

Medical Laboratory Technology - Associate's

This program is designed to provide a progressive curriculum of
general education, basic science, math, clinical and technical
training. The goal of the program is to provide the academic,
professional and clinical skills needed for entry level positions
as a medical laboratory technician. Objectives include the
utilization of critical and analytical thinking skills in the
application of principles and regulations for quality assurance,
accuracy and validity of laboratory tests. Graduates will be able
to competently and safely perform procedures in collection,
processing and analyzing biological specimens and in the multiple
aspects of routine clinical laboratory and other current and
emerging diagnostic tests. Graduates will apply professional
standards and ethics in the performance of evaluation, quality
assessment and management of laboratory results and in the
communication of patient information as part of the healthcare
team. The medical laboratory technician usually works in a
hospital laboratory setting under the supervision of a medical
technologist/clinical laboratory professional, but may also work
in specialized reference laboratories, physician office labs or
industrial/research laboratories.

The medical office assistant program trains students to perform
medical administrative front office duties that are vital in
today's health care field. It develops fundamental skills such as
phone reception, word processing, medical record filing,
appointment scheduling, light bookkeeping, and proficiency in
medical practice software functions. Employment opportunities
include all physicians' offices, clinics, med-checks and
virtually any health care setting.

This program is designed to provide students with the knowledge
and skills needed to apply coding classification systems for
billing medical professional services to insurance companies,
maintaining patient accounts and performing billing procedures
for optimal claim reimbursement. The student will be trained to
utilize medical office software programs to input patient
insurance and registration data, manage health information files,
schedule appointments and submit electronic claims forms.
Emphasis will be placed on the importance of compliance with
state and federal regulations and managed care policies. A high
degree of accuracy and a working knowledge of medical
terminology, diseases, and treatments are important skills for
this profession. Employment opportunities include physician's
offices, clinics, inpatient care facilities, medical billing
management companies and insurance companies.

This program provides students with an understanding of the body
and its functions, and teaches relevant massage techniques and
therapeutic skills. These include, but are not limited to,
specialized massage such as sports massage, therapeutic massage,
neuromuscular therapy and kinesiology. Skills for
client-therapist relations, communication, and promotion complete
this well-rounded degree that prepares the student for entry into
massage career opportunities and to pursue national
certification.

This program teaches the necessary skills for applications and
treatment goals of muscular and general relaxation, stress
reduction, pain management, recovery from injury, health
promotion, education and body awareness. The successful
practitioner must, therefore, be proficient at more than a simple
massage; he or she must understand the body and its functions,
master a variety of techniques, and hone such skills as client
assessment, communication and self-evaluation. Upon completion of
this program, students may transfer all earned credits toward the
Therapeutic and Clinical Massage Associate of Applied Science
degree program.
