Health Information Management - Bachelor of Science

Registered health information technician (RHIT) professionals can now advance to a registered health information administrator (RHIA) without ever visiting a campus.

Isn’t it time to finish your BS degree and expand your career options? Let our Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management program from the University of Cincinnati help you succeed. Working RHIT’s can be well-prepared for the RHIA certification exam with this HIM progression degree, without interrupting their busy lifestyles.

Our curriculum was developed by industry expert and former AHIMA board member Gail I. Smith, who is also our HIM program director. Since our innovative and flexible online degree is accredited by CAHIIM* (AHIMA) and is taught by a dedicated faculty that is respected in the field, you can get a premier education from the comfort of your home.

You can finish your bachelor’s degree and take the RHIA certification exam in just over two years. All you need to qualify is an accredited associate’s degree and RHIT certification (recent AS graduates who are eligible to take the registry exam within six months also qualify for admission). Applications are accepted year round, with four start dates annually.

Not sure if online learning is for you? Anyone comfortable with e-mail and surfing the Internet is prepared to use the technologies in the virtual classroom of online learning. Distance learning experts have transformed the traditional RHIA coursework to accommodate various learning methods. You are assigned to a small group of peers led by a professional facilitator, and you learn using a combination of lectures, readings, discussion sessions and assignments, all with the support of dedicated peer and professional support systems. Plus, you are never limited to just one learning method or to a specific class time.
