At Brown Mackie College — Northern Kentucky, you don't need to wait for a traditional "Fall Start." Because our students aren't always living "traditional" lives we offer new starts each month with day or evening classes that fit your schedule. Each class lasts one month. Health Care Administration - Associate of Applied Business

The Health Care Administration program is designed to prepare students to understand the essential components of managerial and organizational support in the healthcare industry. Students will have an opportunity to learn how various healthcare systems operate and the multiple aspects of the field. At the same time, they will receive hands-on training in the administrative facets of healthcare services for the general public. Graduates of this program will be prepared for entry-level positions in hospitals, clinics, healthcare insurance offices, home healthcare agencies, public health settings, and other healthcare-related organizations.

The Bachelor's in Health Care Management is designed to accommodate the needs and interests of students from a variety of backgrounds. Courses provide a solid foundation for varied health care careers. The program also incorporates an externship that offers students real-world experience within health care facilities that may include hospitals, nursing homes, ambulatory care facilities, physician practices, and pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies.

Medical Assisting - Associate of Applied Science or Diploma

The Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting program prepares graduates to work under the direction of physicians in a private practice or medical setting. Students develop a solid foundation in communication and problem-solving skills through general education course work.

A Diploma program is also available in Medical Assistant.

Occupational Therapy Assistant - Associate of Applied Science*

The occupational therapy assistant program prepares graduates for entry-level employment, working under the direction of an occupational therapist. Students are trained to administer occupational therapy treatments to individuals who have lost functional abilities due to illness, injury or disease. Course work combines lecture, laboratory and clinical experiences.

General education elements of the program enhance students' communication and problem-solving skills to enhance their effectiveness in the occupational therapy profession. The program prepares the graduate for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Certification Examination for Occupational Therapy Assistants.

Students develop a solid foundation in occupational therapy, including:

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Medical terminology
  • Structural kinesiology
  • Neurological dysfunction
  • Mental health concepts and techniques
  • Assessment of function
  • Adaptive living skills
  • Physical rehabilitation
