The Health Information Technology Program will prepare students to work in a variety of health care settings managing health care information databases and systems. Due to confidentiality and privacy issues, students will become aware of ethical, regulatory, quality and legal issues related to the management and exchange of medical information; the importance of accuracy and safety of patient information and care; and, the importance of clear, direct and effective communications as they collaborate with professionals in the medical, legal, financial and insurance fields.

medical assistants to record patient histories, schedule visits,
transcribe dictation, order supplies and prepare correspondence.

certified coders either in institutions, private or group
practices or health insurance carriers. Professionals in this
field interpret and record for payment services rendered by
physicians and other health professionals and review claims
submitted to medical insurers. They must be detail oriented,
familiar with medical information from a variety of sources,
enjoy working with medical professionals and be committed to
excellent customer service. Faculty members are certified medical
coders and will assist students in becoming certified after
graduation and employment.
