By providing a firm foundation in biological sciences as well as
core competencies required of electronics engineering
technologists, DeVry's Bachelor's in Biomedical Engineering
Technology program prepares graduates to enter the work force as
technical professionals with competencies in bioengineering
processes and tools. BMET graduates play essential roles on the
biomedical team, typically designing and implementing hardware
and software solutions to biological or medical problems. The
curriculum is applications-oriented in the areas of physiological
bioinstrumentation and informatics, and it provides graduates
with the knowledge and skills needed to function effectively in
multidisciplinary teams, adapt to changes in technical
environments throughout their careers and progress in their
professional responsibilities.

DeVry designed its Health Information Technology program and its
Biomedical Informatics program to prepare graduates for
professional positions in bioinformatics and health care
informatics. Bioinformatics focuses on developing and managing
information systems used in areas such as genomic research,
forensics and pharmaceutical and agricultural development. Health
care informatics combines knowledge of information technology,
health care systems and life sciences to develop effective and
efficient use of information to implement improved health care
systems.
Graduates are prepared for career-entry positions in areas such
as:
- Health care information systems applications development
- Health care data acquisition, manipulation, analysis and
management.
- Biomedical information applications programming
- Biomedical data acquisition, manipulation, analysis and
management

- Applications software consulting

The bachelor's program is 9 semesters full time and 15 semesters
part time. The minimum credit hours required for graduation is
141.
