Exercise Science - Associate's

In the quest for the perfect body, Americans have a tendency to change fad diets as often as they change their clothes. With our country's obsession with fitness, it comes as no surprise that fitness workers are one of the fastest-growing occupations in the nation. If you want to make a difference in the health and fitness of others, earning an Exercise Science 2 year degree might be the best career choice you can make. With an Exercise Science degree from Rasmussen College, you will be ready to lead, instruct, and motivate people of all ages in exercise, health, and fitness programs. Health Information Technician - Associate's

A career as a health information technician places you right where the expanding arena of health care meets the cutting edge of information technology. This is the perfect career choice for anyone who wants to work in a hospital, clinic or doctor's office setting, while completing detailed, important work.

Human Services - Associate's

The Human Services Associate's degree will prepare you for a career where you help people in need. The Human Services program is perfect for someone who finds joy in helping others and seeing their work directly benefit those around them. You will learn how to provide services to individuals or groups of people with diverse problems and help them overcome their obstacles.

A degree in Human Services will provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to make an impact in your community. After earning a Human Services Associate's degree, you will be equipped to work in many different areas as a Community Service Specialist, Social Service Assistant, Eligibility Specialist, Rehabilitation Counselor, or Social Service Specialist. Graduates of the Human Services program have the opportunity to work in many different environments.

As of 2006, there were 338,700 Social and Human Service Assistants in the field and that number is expected to grow to 452,600 by 2016. There is a need for Social and Human Service Assistants and with an Associate's degree in Human Services, you will be ready to work with people and help them during their time of need.

Medical Administration - Associate's

You can learn how to successfully manage a medical office with an Associate's degree in medical administration from Rasmussen College. The Medical administration degree prepares you for multiple challenges you will encounter in the office including:

  • Recognizing medical law and ethics
  • Learning proper medical insurance and billing procedures
  • Success strategies in the office

In the medical administration program, students will study core courses to develop communication, critical thinking and decision making skills. Students will also have the opportunity to take specialty courses including:

  • Medical transcription
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Medical office procedures
  • Other computer courses

Medical Assisting - Associate's

As a Medical assistant, you'll help care for patients, carry out routine treatments, conduct lab tests, and maintain office records. Medical assistants also have clerical duties. They answer telephones, greet patients, and update medical records. Assistants complete insurance forms and schedule appointments. They also arrange for hospital admission and lab services. You'll work with doctors, nurses, specialists, and other medical professionals caring for and treating patients.

Medical Transcriptionist - Associate's or Diploma

As a medical transcriptionist you will listen to dictated recordings made by health care professionals and generate medical reports and other administrative material. You will then return the documents to the health care professionals who dictated them for review and signature. These documents become part of patients' permanent files.

You may also have other duties such as receiving patients, scheduling appointments, answering the telephone, and handling incoming and outgoing mail.

Pharmacy Technician - Associate's

Pharmacy technicians help pharmacists provide drugs and other health care products to patients. Graduates of this degree program learn theory and practical applications of pharmacy practice. They are able to apply knowledge to retail and hospital pharmacy settings. They combine effective use of available software programs with proficiency in receiving, interpreting, inputting and filling prescriptions. They have knowledge of medical terminology, medical law and ethics, and pharmacy math.

Upon completion of the program they possess the knowledge to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination (PTCB). They value honesty and integrity. They have compassion for patients and respect patient confidentiality.
