Dental Office and Chairside Assistant

The Dental Office and Chairside Assistant program is designed to provide you with knowledge of valuable clinical, laboratory and administrative procedures in a dental office environment. The comprehensive and intensive curriculum will equip you with the skills to perform the following essential tasks: prepare clients for examinations and treatments, perform radiological procedures, and prepare dental materials and equipment. To provide efficient office support, you will learn vital administrative procedures that include bookkeeping and scheduling tasks. You will be familiarized with basic manual and computerized office methods. The variety of duties taught in this program will allow you to be challenged by diverse responsibilities in the dental workplace.

Intra Oral Level II Dental Assistant

This diploma program is both comprehensive and intensive. The Level I components of the program train individuals in a broad range of clinical and laboratory skills. In their assisting role with a dentist, they may prepare the treatment rooms; sterilize, disinfect and transfer dental instruments; assist with the suctioning apparatus; and prepare dental materials. Administrative education includes basic manual and computerized office procedures such as bookkeeping and appointment control - equipping the graduate with skills to contribute in all areas of a dental office.

Under the direction of a dentist, graduates may take and process radiographs; polish teeth; apply fluoride treatments; instruct clients in oral hygiene; place pit and fissure sealants; apply topical anesthetic; apply desensitizing agents; polish restorations; oral irrigation; apply over-the-counter whitening agents; or take preliminary impressions for study casts.

Addictions and Community Services Worker

The Addictions and Community Services Worker program is designed to provide you with knowledge of valuable community outreach programs and services. Through classroom and hands-on instruction, you will gain essential tools to offer vital assistance in the areas of alcoholism, drug abuse, family violence and the aged.

Additionally, your active participation in our learning system will enable you to develop the educational and hands-on abilities to succeed as a health care professional.

You will be prepared to gain entry-level employment in an array of settings that include: child, youth, and family social service agencies; group homes; correctional and community mental health centers; and facilities for the physically and developmentally handicapped.

Cardiology Technologist

This program is designed to prepare students for an exciting and challenging career in cardiac diagnostic testing. Students will learn how to perform and interpret electrocardiograms and exercise tolerance testing. They will also learn to read and generate Holter monitoring and telemetry reports. Career opportunities exist in hospitals, cardiovascular clinics, physicians' offices, medical laboratories and diagnostic imaging centers.

Esthetics

Esthetics is an exciting and ever-expanding career and is one of the fastest growing health and wellness professions.

Over the past few decades it has progressed from a minor role in the beauty industry into a wide variety of specialized services offered in medi-spas, wellness centres, cosmetic surgery centres, destination resorts, salons and day spas.

Students who complete this program will be able to perform any standard esthetics service required in a beauty salon or spa. The acquired knowledge and skills will prepare the student for work as an:

Hospital Patient Registration Specialist

The Hospital Patient Registration Specialist program trains individuals in the intricacies of administration procedures found in departments such as Emergency, Admissions, Outpatients and Bed Control. This involves, for example, gathering patient demographics, working with computerized databases, admitting, discharging and transferring patients, and managing the beds within the hospital. Students will become adept at interacting with patients and staff in all types of situations, some traumatic, others common, and will be able to maintain a professional manner throughout any emergency. As a result of the computerized link to the hospital, the practicum hours within a hospital, and intensive study, the graduate will be capable of working in any of the fast-paced hospital departments.

Massage Therapy

The Massage Therapy program has been designed to prepare students to take the Registration Examinations of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO). The material in the program is therefore consistent with the required knowledge and skills as outlined by the CMTO. The program's primary goal is to provide learning opportunities that promote basic knowledge, skills, ethics and behaviors that will enable the graduate to successfully practice massage therapy in a variety of health care settings.

Medical Laboratory Assistant

The objective of this program is to help individuals prepare for the challenges of a career within the medical environment. Graduates enjoy the greatest career satisfaction when they are scholastically prepared, hold a solid, practical understanding of their responsibilities and begin their positions with a healthy attitude. Everest College seeks to develop all of these attributes within each student. The program provides both theoretical and practical instruction in a well-equipped classroom / laboratory setting. In class learning is supplemented during the enrollment period by clinical work experience in any of the fast-paced hospital departments.

Medical Office Administrator

This Medical Office Administrator program is designed to provide students with the business, technology and communications skills needed to work in a private physician's office, single or multi-specialty clinic, or hospital setting. Emphasis is placed on medical terminology, body systems, medical transcription and medical office procedures. In addition, the program fosters the development of interpersonal skills, organizational effectiveness, and communication skills necessary to function in a medical environment.

Physiotherapist Assistant

The Physiotherapist Assistant program has been designed to train individuals to work in partnership with, and under the supervision of, physiotherapists. The primary goal is to provide learning opportunities which promote basic knowledge, skills, values and behaviors that will enable the graduate to implement delegated tasks, under supervision and direction, within a variety of health care and community settings. Upon successful completion, students will receive a diploma as a physiotherapist assistant.
