The medical assisting program prepares graduates for entry-level work as both clinical and administrative assistants to doctors in offices and clinics. Graduates will gain thorough knowledge of anatomy, basic clinical and laboratory tasks, and administrative duties. The college offers both a certificate and diploma medical assisting program. Courses in these programs include: Musculoskeletal and Nervous Systems, which is the study of anatomy, physiology, diseases and examination and investigation procedures of the muscular, skeletal and nervous systems; Hematology and Microbiology studies structure, composition and function of the blood, as well as blood diseases; and Pulmonary and Cardiovascular Systems, which teaches structure and function of the respiratory cardiovascular system, diseases and investigation procedures, EKG equipment, physiology and basic interpretation of arrhythmias.
