In October 2001, Silicon Valley College relocated its Oakland
campus to Emeryville, located at 1400 65th Street, Suite 200,
near the intersection of Hollis Street and 65th Street off
interstate-80.
Our 21,000 square foot campus is divided into classrooms, labs,
offices, a library, and a student lounge area. Handicapped access
is available on campus. Parking is provided for all students.

The Biotechnology Laboratory Technician program at Silicon Valley College provides students with extensive laboratory experience in such areas as documentation, instrumentation, chromatography, microbiology, fermentation, protein purification methods and recombinant DNA methodologies. Graduates of the Biotechnology program work at the laboratory bench usually in research and development laboratories or small-scale production facilities.
The purpose of this program is to provide the student with the entry-level training in theory and hands-on experience necessary for the Graduates of the Biotechnology program to work at the laboratory bench usually in research and development laboratories or small-scale production facilities.

Because of the many changes and developments in health care, the
role of the Health Information Technologist has become one of
flexibility and versatility. Upon completion of this program,
students will be ready for an entry-level position in any number
of administrative health care environments. This program provides
students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work both in
the medical office and hospital environment.
Upon completion of this 42-week program, you’ll have
knowledge and proficiency in medical terminology, medical
transcription, computerized medical billing/coding, data entry
and recording, and interpersonal relations.
Pharmacy Technician - Diploma or Associate's Degree

Get the hands-on experience and necessary skills to work in
private and retail pharmacies, as well as clinics, hospitals and
urgent care facilities. Areas of study include drug actions,
therapeutic and side effects, systemic and local effects, toxic
and lethal dosages, pharmacology standards and ethics, and
government regulations.
Upon completion of this program (51 weeks for the diploma and 75
weeks for the associate's degree), you’ll have knowledge
and proficiency in medical terminology, abbreviations and
symbols, transcribing prescriptions, identification of drugs,
drug dosages, record keeping, and packaging and storage
requirements.

Get the front-and back-office skills for the medical clinic and
hospital environments, and to work with physicians. Areas of
study include basic anatomy and physiology, vital signs, CPR and
first aid, medical ethics and legal aspects, health care
administration, and patient care.
Upon completion of this program (51 weeks for the diploma and 75
weeks for the associate degree), you’ll have knowledge and
proficiency in medical terminology, wellness, administration of
medication, medical office lab skills, EKG and human relations.
Massage Therapist - Diploma

With the emergence of health care reform and the surge in the
fitness industry, opportunities for the massage therapist have
continued to grow. Today, the massage therapist may work in
private practice or in any number of environments such as medical
and chiropractor doctors' offices, physical therapists' offices
and clinics, in hospitals, fitness centers, health clubs,
resorts, spas, senior centers, at sporting events, and in
corporate and business wellness and stress reduction programs.
Therefore, the purpose of this program is to provide the student
with the theory, knowledge and the hands-on experience for an
entry-level position as a massage therapist in the medical,
health or fitness fields or most importantly, in private
practice.
