For over seven years, the University of Florida has offered working pharmacists from around the country access to a nationally respected PharmD education online – the same quality education that is provided on campus. You not only benefit from the long heritage of academic excellence of the University of Florida College of Pharmacy, but also the format allows you to maximize your time and energy earning your degree.

The Working Professional Doctor of Pharmacy Degree Program (WPPD) has been specifically designed to meet the needs of today's working professional. The program is comprised of nine semesters of study that you can complete in as little as three years and without ever attending classes on-campus.

The program utilizes a combination of:

  • Group Interaction
  • Multi-Media Lecture Presentations
  • Internet-Based Content and Communication
  • Competency-Based Clinical Evaluations

Each semester consists of three full days of group interaction/activities in your local area, Multi-Media faculty lectures you can view at your convenience, competency - based clinical practice assessments, course material accessible through the Internet and frequent communication with faculty, professors and fellow study group members via e-mail.

Why choose the University of Florida WPPD?

Advance in Today's Marketplace

The marketplace for today's pharmaceutical professional has dramatically changed in recent years. The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy has recently reaffirmed its support of the PharmD as the sole entry level degree - to be fully implemented by 2004. To remain competitive, today's pharmacy professional must enhance their skill set for intervention to proactively manage the patient population they serve.

Our graduates are able to thrive in today’s rapidly advancing marketplace by:

Becoming knowledgeable consultants regarding drug therapy and clinical interventions.

Learning to influence costs and protocols of treatment guidelines and, as a member of the medical team, participate in the management of patient care.

Being knowledgeable in the latest developments in the pharmaceutical industry.

Convenient Learning for Working Professionals

The College of Pharmacy has pioneered and tailored the Multi-Dimensional Delivery System targeted for the working professional. The Multi- Dimensional Delivery System results in proven skills and knowledge that earn the professional, and the organization they work for, a competitive advantage.

Innovative Structure, Great Value

The innovative structure of our program, as compared to the traditional educational model, significantly reduces the financial and personal costs to you. You do not have to relocate, disrupt your family or sacrifice your current career.

Admission to the program is limited to pharmacists holding licensure in the their country of residence, with a BS in pharmacy preferably from an institution accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
