Master of Science in Occupational Therapy
The goal of the occupational therapist (OT) is to bridge the physical, cognitive and social challenges encountered by individuals of all ages with diminished skills in order to help them achieve a meaningful life. This program offers a unique curriculum to prepare students to enter this challenging and rewarding career.
The OT program strives to prepare the student for successful careers in the field. The highlights of our program, which sets us apart from other OT programs, are key factors in the success of our students.
Program highlights include:
Flexible Schedule
![]()
Classes meet every other weekend during each semester: Friday (9:30 am - 6:00 pm) and Saturday (8:30 am - 6:00 pm). Between sessions, students complete assignments and participate in learning activities according to a schedule that accommodates their individual lifestyles.
Internet-Based Learning
Students participate in various off-campus guided and independent learning activities, facilitated through the use of email, Internet and distance learning technologies.
Psycho-Social Community-Based Model
An emphasis is placed on a rehabilitation model that prepares the students to enter a wider variety of job placements in this helping profession, rather than remaining strictly within a medical model.
Professional Collaboration
The OT program builds on the strengths of the University in the areas of architecture, graphic, industrial, interior and fashion design, providing students with a unique perspective on the delivery of occupational therapy services.
Master's Portfolio Project
This cumulative capstone project, which includes a scholarly paper and professional poster presentation, chronicles the evolution of professional growth as the student engages in the journey toward becoming an occupational therapist. Each portfolio is unique and personal to the student, and is enhanced through focus on a client with a disability from the community.
