Medical Assistant - Diploma or Associate'sBack to topMedical assistants are multi-skilled health professionals who assist physicians in performing a broad range of administrative and clinical duties. This field is suitable for people who want to acquire knowledge in the medical field, help others and enjoy working with people. The many different roles in this profession ensure a fast-moving and challenging career. The objective of this program is to provide graduates with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to qualify for entry-level positions as medical assistants. The emphasis on administrative and clinical skills includes instruction in medical terminology, medical insurance billing, medical office procedures, communication, word processing, accounting and computer skills. The program includes an externship in a physician's office, clinic or other health care facility. Diploma courses may be applied toward the Associate's in Medical Assistant degree. As a medical billing and coding specialist you stand at the crossroads of health care and technology, and make an important contribution to the delivery of quality care. Medical coders are responsible for assigning universally recognized codes to diagnoses and procedures in order to insure proper financial reimbursement from insurance companies and government agencies, and to work with health-related information and the systems used to collect and process it. The objective of the billing and coding program is to provide graduates with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to qualify for entry-level positions as medical billing and coding professionals. Since medical billing and billing coding professionals are trained in depth with CPT, ICD-9, insurance, reimbursements and physician chart auditing, they are capable of a variety of entry level positions. Therapeutic Massage - Diploma or Associate'sBack to topThe art and science of therapeutic massage is a branch of complimentary health care that works to improve a person's health and well-being through the hands-on manipulation of muscles and other soft tissues of the body. Massage therapy is one of the fastest growing professions in the health care industry. There is an ever-increasing acceptance of massage as a holistic approach to health care and health maintenance. As a result, opportunities for massage therapists are abundant. The therapeutic massage program is designed to prepare the students for employment as Certified Massage Therapists (CMT) and/or to entrance into private practice.
