Health Care – Associate's

This program prepares students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge for entry-level positions in various health care professions. Concentration courses are drawn from Herzing College health care diploma programs of study in dental assisting, medical assisting, medical billing and insurance coding, medical office administration or therapeutic massage. Students must complete all the requirements of one of those programs to fulfill degree requirements.

Health Care Management – Bachelor's

This program prepares students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge for entry-level management positions in health care. It is structured as a "two plus two" degree where students who have already completed an associate's degree in a health care related field can top off that degree with an advanced management curriculum. Combined, this gives the graduate both the technical grounding in a health care field (from their health care associate-level studies) and the business and management skills to manage within the health care industry.

Medical Assisting – Diploma or Associate's

The introduction of students to the overall operation of the physician's office is the basic objective of this program. Students are trained to assist the physician in the examination room, to perform routine laboratory procedures and to handle financial records, correspondence, insurance forms and other administrative functions. Our ultimate goal is to prepare students to successfully gain entry-level employment as a medical assistant.

Medical Billing and Insurance Coding – Diploma or Associate's

The goal of the medical billing and insurance coding program is to provide the student with a thorough understanding of the content of the medical record as well as extensive training in anatomy, physiology, disease processes and medical terminology. This program will provide the student with the knowledge and understanding to analyze medical records and assign codes to classify diagnoses and procedures while applying the principles of professional and ethical conduct. The program will prepare the student for an entry-level position as a medical coder in a hospital, clinic or other health care facility.

Physical Therapist Assistant - Associate's

The Associate of Science in Physical Therapist Assistant (ASPTA) will prepare students to take the National Licensing Examination for Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) and to begin a professional allied health career. Students are provided a foundation of general education including courses in the natural sciences, the social sciences, mathematics and humanities as well as the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to work in a health care environment. Theoretical instruction is complimented with clinical experience in a variety of health care settings in order to provide a broad, holistic and reality-based understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a professional physical therapist assistant. Students will participate in planned clinical and laboratory experiences that will complement classroom learning and will stress health promotion as well as disease processes.

Surgical Technology – Associate's

This program is designed to provide students with the skills necessary to function in the operating room (OR) as an important member of the surgical team along with surgeons, nurses and other medical personnel to ensure proper surgical care before, during and after a surgical procedure. Each student will be prepared for entry-level surgical technology positions in the operating room or surgical setting.

Therapeutic Massage - Diploma

This program provides the students with the skills and knowledge necessary in therapeutic massage and functions of the human body to meet the requirements of an entry-level massage therapist. The curriculum also provides the students with a working knowledge of the structure and function of the human body and the theory of natural health care methodologies.
