For over 140 years, Sanford-Brown College has provided career-oriented postsecondary educational programs. Our institution offers focused, innovative, short-term diploma program areas in the fields of business administration and healthcare.
At Sanford-Brown, we have focused our study programs, which enable you the opportunity to develop your skills effectively to meet your specific career goals. We enable adults to complete some programs of study in less time than you think. Plus, our programs focus on the essential concepts and skills most employers look for in entry-level employees. Our goal is to provide you with the practical information and experience you need to get your foot in the door. A distinct advantage of our programs is that we do not require students to take courses that are not directly supportive of their career goals.
We are in the business of career education and we care about you and your future, as well as your future employer's needs. That is the Sanford-Brown difference.
Did you know that in the healthcare field there is a numerical code assigned to every medical procedure, condition and disease? Medical Billing and Coding professionals assign those codes based on physician diagnoses, and attention to detail is essential. Medical Billing and Coding training at Sanford-Brown can prepare you to work in a number of healthcare settings, such as physicians’ offices, hospitals and care centers.
If you're responsible, organized and would enjoy playing a key role in the healthcare field, medical billing and coding can be a challenging and interesting career.
Much of the vital work of disease detection, diagnosis and treatment happens in the lab without the patient present. This program is designed to teach you to prepare blood, urine and tissue specimens for analysis and to analyze the chemical content of fluids using microscopes, computers and sophisticated laboratory equipment that can detect bacteria, parasites and other microorganisms. In addition to learning to use this complex equipment, you'll also be taught to maintain and troubleshoot it.
If you're looking for a responsible healthcare position that does not involve direct patient care, this could be an ideal career choice for you.
Accreditation is a voluntary process which may be undertaken by schools to demonstrate compliance with specific standards designed to indicate a level of education quality. SBC is institutionally accredited (accredited in total) by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), a national accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (DOE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). This indicates that SBC substantially meets or exceeds the stated criteria of education quality established by ACICS, and approved by the DOE and CHEA. This recognition of institutional accreditation by ACICS entitles SBC to offer Title IV Financial Assistance to students who qualify.
An additional form of accreditation that a school may undertake to obtain is a specific, individual accreditation of certain programs (programmatic accreditation). Institutional accreditation is not the same as or a substitution for programmatic accreditation. Although programmatic accreditation is not required for employment in many cases, the existence of programmatic accreditation is a further indication that a program meets the standards of the profession, and may therefore indirectly enhance employment opportunities. Also, in some cases, programmatic accreditation will allow the graduates of the accredited program to sit for some credentialing exams immediately upon graduation without any requirement of work experience.
