San Joaquin Valley College is an accredited private junior college committed to the professional success of its students and graduates. Founded in 1977, SJVC has campuses located throughout California-including an Online division and offers 20 accelerated Certificate and Associate of Science degree programs in the business, medical and technical fields.

Degree Programs with Hands-On Career Training

With a core of general education courses alongside specialized career training, SJVC enables graduates to receive their Associate of Science degree in addition to career specific certifications and licensure preparedness. Students get the classroom instruction and real-world experience they need to compete in today's job market.

Flexible, Accelerated Learning

SJVC courses are offered year-round, with flexible hours in morning, afternoon and evening classes to accommodate working students. Most courses of study can be completed in only 15 to 18 months.

Dental Hygiene - Associate's

An In-Demand Career That Offers Flexible Schedules

Looking for a career in the medical field but don't want to spend years and years in school? Dental hygiene may be a career field for you. It ranks as one of the fastest growing occupations and many jobs flexible scheduling.

SJVC's Dental Hygiene Program, offered at the Rancho Cucamonga and Visalia campuses, prepares students to work as a registered dental hygienist.

Graduates earn an Associate of Science degree and are eligible to take the National Board written examination and a State and/or Regional Board Examination for licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will also be prepared to work in private dental offices and enjoy a high salary, flexible hours, a professional work environment and job security. Other career opportunities include working in public health agencies, clinics and nursing home facilities, as well as pharmaceutical or dental supply sales or education.

Students receive extensive clinical training in an on-site facility, to gain real-world professional experience in:

SLVC's Dental Hygiene graduates have an Average Pass Rate of 97.7% on the NATIONAL BOARD DENTAL HYGIENE EXAMINATION and an Average Pass Rate of 91.3% on the CALIFORNIA STATE BOARD DENTAL HYGIENE CLINICAL EXAMINATION.
