Diploma in Medical Assistant

Medical Assistants (MA) perform hands-on clinical care together with physicians and mid-level health care practitioners. The Medical Assistant is frequently the first person in the physician's office that a patient speaks with and may be the last person the patient interacts with following their exam, procedure or treatment. Medical practices depend on skilled, personable Medical Assistants as an integral link to their patients. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, "Medical Assistant is expected to be the fastest growing occupation over the 2002-2012 period." Graduates of this program are eligible to sit for the Registered Medical Assistant Certification Exam. Job opportunities include hospitals, clinics, sports medicine facilities and insurance companies.

Diploma in Medical Office Specialist

As a medical office specialist, you will work in hospitals, doctors' offices, and extended health care facilities. You'll coordinate all aspects of patient care, including taking patient histories, insurance billing and coding, working with physicians by ordering and scheduling lab tests and surgeries, admitting and discharging patients, and managing equipment and records. This is definitely a patient-oriented career with major decision-making and problem-solving responsibilities.

Diploma in Pharmacy Technology

As a Pharmacy Technician student, you are trained and prepared to be employed in a hospital pharmacy, a community pharmacy, or a large pharmacy chain store. Pharmacy Technicians are trained Health Care professionals who work in both hospitals and retail pharmacies under the supervision of a pharmacist. Pharmacy Technicians prepare and fill prescriptions under the direction of a pharmacist, issue medications, and label and store supplies. Graduates of this training program will have learned the basic aspects of pharmacy practice, including reading, filling and distributing prescriptions. They will understand the legal responsibilities of a pharmacy for record maintenance and the handling of various categories of drugs, and they will know basic pharmaceutical calculations, medications, common drug interactions and their side effects and pharmaceutical agents and their uses.
