Dental Assistant

As a student in the Dental Assistant/Assisting program at Concorde Career Colleges, you will be prepared to work alongside a dentist in his or her front office. Through the program, you will receive ''multi-tasked'' training, which means you will receive education in both clinical and administrative capabilities in a healthcare field that is in demand. Clinical responsibilities include sterilizing and preparing instrument trays, exposing and processing x-rays, conducting oral inspections, preparing patients for treatment, and taking vital signs. Administrative responsibilities include patient charting, appointment setting, completing insurance forms, and processing accounts payable and fee collections.

Medical Assistant

As a Medical Assistant, you will be an integral part of the healthcare delivery team. In this position, you are considered a 'multi-tasked' provider, meaning you will receive training and be qualified in both clinical and administrative capacities. Your education in the Medical Assistant program at Concorde Career Colleges will give you the knowledge and skills to excel in this important position. Medical Assistants work closely with doctors in clinics and physicians’ offices. You will be entrusted with a variety of critical responsibilities. Clinical responsibilities include taking patient histories and vital signs, performing first aid and CPR, preparing patients for procedures, assisting the physician with examinations and treatments, infection control, collecting and processing specimens, performing selected diagnostic tests, and preparing and administering medications as directed by the physician. Administrative skills and responsibilities include scheduling and receiving patients, preparing and maintaining medical records, performing basic secretarial skills and medical transcription, handling telephone calls and written correspondence, serving as a liaison between physicians and other individuals, and managing practice finances.

Medical Office Administration

As a Medical Office Professional, you are an integral member of the healthcare team. Your organizational skills and clear understanding of medical and insurance coding terminology keeps your workplace running efficiently. You will mainly function in an administrative environment, performing duties such as transcription, coding, billing, word processing, filing, and working with various medical office software packages. Your education in the Medical Office Professional program at Concorde Career Colleges will provide you with the training and skills to carry out these duties and have success in your field.

Surgical Technology

As an entry-level Surgical Technologist, you will perform essential tasks before, during, and after operations. You will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other key surgical personnel in hospital operating rooms and outpatient surgery centers. Surgical Technologists play a critical role in surgical patient care, and you will receive the training and education you need to successfully fill this role while you are a student in the Surgical Technology/Technologist program at Concorde Career Colleges. There are three major roles for entry-level Surgical Technologists: Scrub, Circulating Assistant, and Second Assisting. Scrub, Circulating Assistant, and Second Assisting Surgical Technologists have primary responsibilities in maintaining the sterile field, being constantly vigilant that all members of the team adhere to proper technique. The Surgical Technologist in the Scrub role handles instruments, supplies, and medical equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. They maintain a sterile environment and anticipate the needs of the surgeon. The Surgical Technologist in the Circulating Assistant role obtains additional instruments, supplies, and medical equipment while the surgical procedure is in progress. They monitor operating room conditions and assess the needs of the surgical team in order to provide safe patient care. The Surgical Technologist in the Second Assisting role assists the surgeon and/or surgeon`s first assistant during the operative procedure by carrying out technical tasks other than cutting, clamping, or suturing of tissue. The Second Assisting role is distinct from the surgeon’s first assistant, and may be performed at the same time as the Scrub role.

Vocational Nursing

Upon completion of the Vocational Nurse/Nursing program at Concorde Career Colleges, and passing the licensing examination, you can enter the workforce as a competent, skilled nurse. Vocational Nurses provide bedside nursing care at the direction of physicians and/or registered nurses. The practice of Vocational Nursing is based on concepts from the physical, biological, and behavioral sciences. Each state has its own nurse practice act, so the scope of practice varies from state to state. We`re here to help you obtain the education and training you need to succeed in this important medical field. As a licensed professional, the LVN uses the nursing process for patient assessment, to contribute to the nursing diagnosis made by the RN, and for planning, implementation, and evaluation in providing care. LVNs are integral to nursing. They provide individualized care in a variety of healthcare settings such as acute care, long-term care, home healthcare, and other community healthcare agencies. Vocational Nursing students benefit from extensive hands-on learning. Much of their preparation for nursing focuses on supervised clinical experiences with real clients in real healthcare facilities. This clinical component of education is one of the major strengths of the Vocational Nursing program. Because of the versatility in their study, LVNs are among the most patient-focused members of any healthcare team.
