Convenient Scheduling with One Course a Month

At Brown Mackie College, you don’t need to wait for a traditional “Fall Start.” Because our students aren’t always living “traditional” lives we offer new starts each month with day or evening classes that fit your schedule. Each class lasts one month. There’s no need to divide your time and energy between coursework and exams for multiple courses. We keep the focus on one course, one subject at a time to help you succeed.

Associate's - Health Care Administration

The associate's degree in health care administration prepares students to understand the essential components of managerial and organizational support in the health care industry. Students will learn how various health care systems operate and the multiple aspects of the field. At the same time, they will receive hands-on training in the administrative facets of health care services for the general public.

Graduates of this program will be prepared for entry-level positions in:

  • Hospitals
  • Clinics
  • Health care insurance offices
  • Home health care agencies
  • Public health settings
  • Other health care related organizations

Associate's - Medical Assisting

The Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting program prepares graduates to work under the direction of physicians in a private practice or medical setting. Students develop a solid foundation in communication and problem-solving skills through general education course work.

A diploma program is also available in medical assisting.

Associate's - Occupational Therapy Assistant

The Occupational Therapy Assistant program prepares graduates for entry-level employment, working under the direction of an occupational therapist. Students are trained to administer occupational therapy treatments to individuals who have lost functional abilities due to illness, injury, or disease. Coursework combines lecture, laboratory, and clinical experiences. General Education elements of the program enhance students' communication and problem-solving skills to enhance their effectiveness in the occupational therapy profession.

The program prepares the graduate for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Certification Examination for Occupational Therapy Assistants. Students develop a solid foundation in occupational therapy, including: Anatomy and physiology Medical terminology Structural kinesiology Neurological dysfunction Mental health concepts and techniques Assessment of function Adaptive living skills Physical rehabilitation Entry-level Employment Opportunities Hospitals Offices of Health Practitioners Offices of Occupational Therapists Nursing Care Facilities Community Care Facilities Home Healthcare Services The Occupational Therapy Assistant program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), 4720 Montgomery Lane, P.O. Associate's - Physical Therapist Assistant

The Physical Therapist Assistant program prepares graduates for entry-level employment as a physical therapist assistant under the direction of a physical therapist. Students are trained to administer physical therapy treatments to individuals who have lost functional abilities due to illness, injury, or disease. Associate's - Veterinary Technology

The Veterinary Technology program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills leading to entry-level employment in a variety of veterinary clinical settings and related fields. Graduates of this program will be prepared to provide a wide range of clinical skills including animal patient care, laboratory procedures, medical imaging, anesthesia administration and monitoring, and surgical assistance for a variety of domestic animals.

Bachelor's - Health Care Management

The Bachelor's in Health Care Management is designed to accommodate the needs and interests of students from a variety of backgrounds. Courses provide a solid foundation for varied health care careers. The program also incorporates an externship that offers students real-world experience within health care facilities that may include hospitals, nursing homes, ambulatory care facilities, physician practices, and pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies.

Certificate - Medical Assistant

The medical assistant program provides graduates with the skills necessary to obtain entry-level employment in a clinical and/or administrative medical setting. The program prepares graduates for entry-level positions under the direct supervision of a physician or medical office manager through course work in:

  • Medical office administration
  • Clinical procedures
  • Pharmacology
  • Business principles
  • Computer operations

Diploma - Practical Nursing

The Diploma program in Practical Nursing balances classroom instruction with clinical experience. Students receive a solid foundation in the areas of:

  • Medical-surgical nursing
  • Pediatrics
  • Obstetrics
  • Geriatrics
  • Pharmacology

Graduates of this program are qualified to pursue LPN State Board licensure.
