At Brown Mackie College, you don’t need to wait for a traditional “Fall Start.” Because our students aren’t always living “traditional” lives we offer new starts each month with day or evening classes that fit your schedule. Each class lasts one month. There’s no need to divide your time and energy between coursework and exams for multiple courses. We keep the focus on one course, one subject at a time to help you succeed.

Brown Mackie College — Michigan City students are lucky enough to attend college in a city where tourists come to enjoy the many amenities and outdoor activities. Less than 60 miles east of Chicago, Michigan City is just south of the Indiana/Michigan state line situated along Lake Michigan. The city and the College are easily accessible via Interstate 94.
Michigan City is the gateway to the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Mt. Baldy, located in Michigan City, is part of the National Lakeshore and is the city's premier natural landmark. More than two million people visit our National Park each year. In addition, there are new and expanding trails throughout Michigan City, including a new trail along Trail Creek, Indiana's most notable salmon stream. Many times in the year, fishing is great and anglers catch trout and salmon weighing more than 20 pounds – within city limits! The trail system connects active and passive parks throughout the city and region, helping to promote an active, healthy lifestyle.
During time off from studies, students will find numerous other activities to keep them busy. City parks include Washington Park, a 118-acre lakefront area with a marina, zoo, museum, and public beaches. Millennium Riverwalk Plaza, located in Washington Park, offers fishing, a Greek amphitheater, and fountain. Other parks include picnic areas, baseball diamonds, and tennis courts. Michigan City also has one of the country's oldest active municipal bands. Free concerts are performed for the public every Thursday evening at the ampitheatre in Washington Park. In recent years, Michigan City has added a riverboat, The Blue Chip Casino, the largest riverboat in Indiana. Michigan City has also added a new skatepark to its tourism offerings.

The associate's degree in health care administration prepares students to understand the essential components of managerial and organizational support in the health care industry. Students will learn how various health care systems operate and the multiple aspects of the field. At the same time, they will receive hands-on training in the administrative facets of health care services for the general public.

The Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting program prepares graduates to work under the direction of physicians in a private practice or medical setting. Students develop a solid foundation in communication and problem-solving skills through general education course work.

The program in medical office management is designed to prepare students for entry-level employment in an insurance coding and billing department of a physician's office, clinic or hospital.
Graduates may perform clerical and administrative tasks, analyze information, and combine that with knowledge of insurance reimbursement and coding guidelines to expedite physician payments.
The Associate of Science degree program in Surgical Technology is designed to provide students with the required knowledge base and technical skills required to obtain entry-level employment in the field of surgical technology.

The Veterinary Technology program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills leading to entry-level employment in a variety of veterinary clinical settings and related fields. Graduates of this program will be prepared to provide a wide range of clinical skills including animal patient care, laboratory procedures, medical imaging, anesthesia administration and monitoring, and surgical assistance for a variety of domestic animals.
The medical assistant program provides graduates with the skills necessary to obtain entry-level employment in a clinical and/or administrative medical setting.
