Convenient Scheduling with One Course a Month

At Brown Mackie College, you don’t need to wait for a traditional “Fall Start.” Because our students aren’t always living “traditional” lives we offer new starts each month with day or evening classes that fit your schedule. Each class lasts one month. There’s no need to divide your time and energy between coursework and exams for multiple courses. We keep the focus on one course, one subject at a time to help you succeed.

Our programs are practical and skill based. Our goal is to prepare you to pursue an entry-level position in the field of your study. Our classes and coursework integrate real world experiences to give you the technical skills and the professional approach you’ll need to enter the workforce.

Brown Mackie College — Fort Wayne is located in northeastern Indiana, in the state's second largest city. Students here are able to get their education in a city on the rise. Today's Fort Wayne has many exciting developments underway. A new baseball stadium for the city's minor league team is planned along with a shopping mall, restaurants, and condominiums.

Because of Fort Wayne's close proximity to Indianapolis, Chicago, Detroit, and Columbus, the city has always been an important transportation and communications hub. Recent decades brought a more diverse economy to Fort Wayne but the transportation sector continues to be a predominant presence. General Motors, Sirva, the Norfolk Southern Railway, and TransWorks serve as major employers. Mid-sized companies continue to show growth in the area, too, and companies representing the insurance, Internet services, and accounting fields are nearby when students are prepared to look for jobs.

Culture abounds in Fort Wayne with a rich art and theatre scene, nightlife, and more than 2,000 acres of city parks for Brown Mackie College – Fort Wayne students to enjoy.

Associate's - Biomedical Equipment Technology

The Biomedical Equipment Technology program is designed to prepare the student for a variety of positions in an industry that installs, inspects, repairs, and maintains medical equipment. It provides the student training in electronics technology with specialized emphasis on medical applications and computer systems technology. Coursework also focuses on anatomy and biology, engineering, and biomedical instrumentation. Students receive a multidisciplinary skill set that is transferable to many career fields.

Associate's - Health Care Administration

The associate's degree in health care administration prepares students to understand the essential components of managerial and organizational support in the health care industry. Students will learn how various health care systems operate and the multiple aspects of the field. At the same time, they will receive hands-on training in the administrative facets of health care services for the general public.

Graduates of this program will be prepared for entry-level positions in:

  • Home health care agencies
  • Public health settings
  • Other health care related organizations

Associate's - Medical Assisting

The Associate of Applied Science in Medical Assisting program prepares graduates to work under the direction of physicians in a private practice or medical setting. Students develop a solid foundation in communication and problem-solving skills through general education course work.

A diploma program is also available in medical assisting.

Associate's - Nursing

The associate's degree program in nursing provides students with general principles and knowledge in the biological and behavioral sciences, as well as the science of nursing. This knowledge forms the basis for utilizing the nursing process in a professional practice. Integration of theory into clinical practice is an important aspect of professional nursing education.

Associate's - Occupational Therapy Assistant

The Occupational Therapy Assistant program prepares graduates for entry-level employment, working under the direction of an occupational therapist. Students are trained to administer occupational therapy treatments to individuals who have lost functional abilities due to illness, injury, or disease. Coursework combines lecture, laboratory, and clinical experiences. General Education elements of the program enhance students' communication and problem-solving skills to enhance their effectiveness in the occupational therapy profession.

The program prepares the graduate for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Certification Examination for Occupational Therapy Assistants. Associate's - Physical Therapist Assistant

The Physical Therapist Assistant program prepares graduates for entry-level employment as a physical therapist assistant under the direction of a physical therapist. Students are trained to administer physical therapy treatments to individuals who have lost functional abilities due to illness, injury, or disease. General Education elements of the program enhance students' communication and problem-solving skills to enhance their professional effectiveness.

Associate's - Surgical Technology

The Associate of Science degree program in Surgical Technology is designed to provide students with the required knowledge base and technical skills required to obtain entry-level employment in the field of surgical technology.

To achieve this goal, the program curriculum provides study in:

  • General and specialty surgical procedures
  • Principles of anesthesia
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Medical terminology
  • Surgical technology techniques

Additional course work in general education helps students to grow professionally and develop the ability to assume leadership roles.

Associate's - Veterinary Technology

The Veterinary Technology program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills leading to entry-level employment in a variety of veterinary clinical settings and related fields. Graduates of this program will be prepared to provide a wide range of clinical skills including animal patient care, laboratory procedures, medical imaging, anesthesia administration and monitoring, and surgical assistance for a variety of domestic animals.

Bachelor's - Health Care Management

The Bachelor's in Health Care Management is designed to accommodate the needs and interests of students from a variety of backgrounds. Courses provide a solid foundation for varied health care careers. The program also incorporates an externship that offers students real-world experience within health care facilities that may include hospitals, nursing homes, ambulatory care facilities, physician practices, and pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies.

Certificate - Medical Assistant

The medical assistant program provides graduates with the skills necessary to obtain entry-level employment in a clinical and/or administrative medical setting. The program prepares graduates for entry-level positions under the direct supervision of a physician or medical office manager through course work in:

  • Medical office administration
  • Clinical procedures
  • Pharmacology
  • Business principles
  • Computer operations

Diploma - Practical Nursing

The Diploma program in Practical Nursing balances classroom instruction with clinical experience. Students receive a solid foundation in the areas of:

  • Medical-surgical nursing
  • Pediatrics
  • Obstetrics
  • Geriatrics
  • Pharmacology

Graduates of this program are qualified to pursue LPN State Board licensure.
