Medical Assisting - Associate's

Anthem College Online offers the opportunity for students who hold a Medical Assisting (MA) diploma to extend their credentials into an associate of science degree in medical assisting.

The program helps MA diploma holders strengthen problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication capabilities. Concentration courses cover healthcare compliance, emergency care, medical office supervision, and patient assessment. Core courses focus on critical thinking, problem-solving, communication and computer skills.

Program graduates will be prepared to seek employment as a medical assistant, including supervisory or coordinator roles such as shift lead, referral coordinator, front/back office manager, and medical assisting instructor.

Medical Assisting - Diploma

Your training prepares you to become a vital person in the medical office. You'll update patient medical records, fill out reports, lab tests, diagnoses and treatment plans. Your duties are to evaluate records for completeness and ensure that essential info is in the computer.

Duties may also include taking medical histories and recording vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients, preparing patients for exams and assisting physicians.

Upon graduation, you will be qualified to work as a Medical Assistant, a Medical Receptionist, a Medical Insurance Biller, a Medical Bookkeeper or a Laboratory Assistant in places like a physician's office, a health practitioner's office or outpatient care centers, among others.

Medical Billing & Coding - Associate's

Medical billing programs prepare students to work in a field that emphasizes the role of office technologies in medical environments.

Anthem College—Aurora provides comprehensive training for this dynamic field through its Associate of Applied Science in Medical Billing & Coding.

Students take courses that address a wide range of billing, coding, and documentation issues. They learn about different health information technologies and medical office procedures such as medical records formatting, information release and account management.

Surgical Technician - Diploma

Surgical Technicians are key members of surgery teams who provide pre- and post-operative services as well as assistance during actual surgery.

The Surgical Technician program teaches students the fundamentals of anatomy and physiology they need to know for their careers. They are introduced to operating room environments and receive hands-on training in sterilization techniques and instrumentation set-up, and learn about surgical instruments and supplies. Students are also trained in basic surgical skills and laboratory procedures that support OR functions.
