AccreditationAccreditation, in practical terms, is a "stamp of approval," a sign that an institution ascribes to, believes in and has met an external set of basic criteria for its programs. In all cases, it indicates that threshold standards are adhered to in a fashion that provides a base of academic strength and operational integrity. Accreditation reviews focus on educational quality, institutional integrity and educational improvements. Medical Coding Accrediting BodiesAttending an accredited medical coding program is important if you're planning on becoming certified. The two agencies that specifically accredit medical coding and health information management programs are the American Health Information Management Association and the American Academy of Professional Coders. Regional AccreditationYou can also qualify for medical coding certification if you attend a school that has received institutional accreditation by one of the six regional accrediting agencies.
